Built around one job: security lighting that varies its on/off times within a range you set rather than a fixed schedule, harder for someone watching a property to predict than a lamp that clicks on at exactly the same minute every night. That randomisation is a deliberate security feature, not a limitation.

Daily, weekly or countdown modes give flexibility beyond just the random function, up to 16 programs total, so the timer can still run a conventional fixed schedule for some circuits while randomising others.
