The LC4 does the same core job as the XTAR C4-AA, charging XTAR's regulated 1.5V lithium cells rather than standard NiMH or alkaline batteries, but spreads that across four fully independent slots that accept AA and AAA in any mix. Each slot runs its own charge cycle on its own schedule, so a shorter AAA cell that finishes early doesn't sit there waiting on a longer AA cell still topping up in a neighbouring slot, and there's no need to charge same-size batteries together in a single session.
A full set of four AA cells takes about 1.7 hours start to finish, four AAA a little quicker at around 1.5 hours, both over USB-C rather than the older micro-USB standard many budget chargers still use. The housing uses a hollowed-out design rather than a fully sealed shell, which helps the whole pack run cooler across a full charge cycle, especially useful when all four slots are working simultaneously.
Per-slot status
Status is shown per slot through individual LEDs rather than one shared indicator for the whole unit, so it's possible to glance at the charger and know exactly which cells are done, still charging, or flagged with a low-voltage warning, without unplugging anything to check manually. That per-slot visibility is a real practical difference from single-LED chargers where "still charging" could mean any one of four cells is holding up the rest.
