One app to rule them: Tuya
Nearly every device in this guide runs on the Tuya platform, controlled from the Tuya or Smart Life app. One app, one account, and every device shows up in the same list. Most of our smart devices also work with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can add voice control later without changing anything. The only real requirement: your WiFi router must broadcast 2.4GHz, because these devices do not join 5GHz networks. If your router mixes both bands under one name, most devices connect fine.
Start with a smart plug

Do I need 5GHz WiFi for smart devices?
No, the opposite. These devices connect to 2.4GHz WiFi. If your router broadcasts both bands under one name, they generally connect fine; if not, split the bands in the router settings.
